This term our topic has been ‘Rock Detectives.’ We have been learning about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age.
We had a ‘Stone Age Day’ and had a visitor come in to teach us all about the Stone Age and how they lived; we learnt how they hunted for food, made fire and shelter, how people were buried and even had a go at making our own Stone Henge.
We had lots of fun with chalk and pastels creating cave paintings and writing ‘did you know facts’ for our displays:
We read a book called ‘Stone Age Boy’ and pretended that we were living in the Stone Age and wrote diaries about what we did, who we met there and how we survived.
Then we all brought in old shoe boxes to school and used them to make caves, we wrote instructions of how we did it. First we painted the boxes, then we used ‘Model Magic’ to make cave people to go in the caves, we used tissue paper and fake fur fabric to make the decorations, we also put some cave paintings in!
The most enjoyable part of this term was our school play that was all about what we had learnt and had some songs as well including ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘I Wanna Be Like You’ from The Jungle Book.
