At Hunters Hall Primary we have a strong commitment to parental involvement and see homework as one way of developing this partnership. This is because we believe that working together - the child, parent/carer and the school - we can help your child reach their potential.
On entry to school, all children and parents sign a pre-school agreement in which roles and responsibilities are outlined. Within this agreement are references to children completing homework as well as the parental responsibility to both ensure that homework is completed and that necessary help and support is provided at home.
Homework tasks are set for pupils at Hunters Hall with the purpose of supporting the ongoing progress and achievements for all pupils.
Sometimes the purpose of homework is to practise skills the children have already learned in school, whilst at other times the homework will ask children to apply their learning to a new context. They will not be given work to do at home that they have not learned in school unless it is for a project which asks them to find out about something new.
Homework can inform parents about current classroom learning and it also helps foster good habits of organisation and self-discipline in preparation for later life
